Porchfest 2022 — What a Day!

Yesterday was a special day in my microcosmic part of the world.

For the last 13 years, on a Saturday afternoon in late September, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, the Rotary Club of Belleville hosts a community event called Porchfest. This event takes place in the neighbourhood that our family happens to live in called Old East Hill.

Folks from a near and far stroll through our historic neighbourhood, filled with 100+ year old Victorian-era two-storey red brick architectural marvels, listening to the sweet sounds of music emanating from front porches, front yards, and driveways.

Anyone who plays a musical instrument is encouraged to grab their guitars, banjos, fiddles, drums, etc. and play music and sing songs from their front porches for the enjoyment of their neighbours and other passers-by.

Some of my friends and I used to play at Porchfest on our front porch but my group, The Tuesday Night Music Club, took 2022 off due to scheduling conflicts and because we haven’t been jamming much lately.

Not having to play in 2022 allowed me to tour around the neighbourhood with my family to enjoy music performed by others. The weather was perfect. The sun was shining, and the temperature was a very pleasant 18C (64F).
